What is it?
General Description
Search&Replace is a powerful batch-processing application text files on Mac OS X (10.5 and 10.6), designed to replace the content in your text files in just a click! But that is not all: you can also batch-rename your files, photos, videos etc. in just a click too! Its user-friendly interface makes it accessible to just about anyone without specific computer knowledge.
With Search&Replace, you can :
- Edit text file content (text inside of text files)
- Rename files/folders with a find-and-replace
- Rename files sequentially
- Add suffixes and prefixes to files or folders
- Append your file and / or folder's creation date to their name
- Trim the start or end of file and / or folder names
- Change file or folder names to lowercase or UPPERcase
... all that in just a click ! It makes the work all the more painless: Not only is Search&Replace powerful, but it was designed to be easy to use, hence the intuitive interface with tabs. Work with file names
Have you ever found yourself with 500 or 1000 holiday pictures, which all have the same name with random numbers, and you could not rename them manually, one by one? Have you ever felt the need to add the date when they were taken to those pictures?
It is now possible to rename files just the way you want them in just a few clicks. If you are not happy with a recurring element in your file names, you can perform a search and replace action on them. Add suffixes, prefixes, rename them sequentially or trim your file names in no time!
Work with text content
Have you ever had this one piece of information you wanted to change or delete in hundreds of files at the same time (like that header or that copyright in your html files)? No more need to open text files one by one to edit them! Search&Replace can replace content inside of text files in just a click: you don't need to open them one by one and change the text manually. It is even able to process files included in deeper level sub-folders automatically, and you don't need to do anything but enter the text to find and the text to replace. Search&Replace provides freedom of use, and freedom of search. You can search filenames or contents. It even shows statistics about the number of replacements within each individual file, counts the number of files to be processed etc.

A bit of Statistics
The option drawer panel enables you to see how many files your folder contains. The application only renames the ones that correspond to your criteria.
When you decide to rename file content, you can see how many occurences of your search there are in your files. At the end of the replacement process, you can see how many replacements were made in each separate file.
Work with almost unlimited file types
You do not need to worry about which file's content to rename: the application supports the common text file types.
